This page describes the ongoing License Review exercise since 2021.

Call for Reviewing “open source license” that governs the usage rights to Open Source Intellectual Property on the networked Artificial Intelligence

We welcome industry peers from open-source communities to contribute to this initiative. We invite suggestions from subject matter experts:

Subject Matter Experts may be e.g. - technology providers, I.P lawyers, open source developers, scientists, legislators, system engineers, STEM researchers, corporate lobbyists, corporate leaders, and human rights activists.

6th November 2021 - 31st March 2022(extended):

The initiative was first posted for subject matter review.

A legal draft of the License v1.0 released upon completion of the subject matter reviews.

1st April 2022- 1st May 2022:

Subject Matter Expert Reviews based on the release of the License Draft.

1st May 2022- 1st July 2022:

(Review 1) Call for General Public Discussion

1st July 2022-31st Dec 2022:

(Review 2) General Public Discussion, inviting comments and feedback on the License Draft.

Revisions are made based on Public Reviews and suggestions from subject matter experts.

1st Jan 2023- 31st July 2023:

(Activity 1) Primary provisions for Electronic Authentication of Open Constitution License for attribution on the Open Constitution Network.

(Review 3) General Public Discussion, inviting comments and feedback on the License Draft and Electronic Provisions.

Revisions are made based on Public Reviews and suggestions from subject matter experts.

01st Aug 2023- 31st Dec 2023

(Activity 2) Secondary provisions for Electronic Authentication of Open Constitution License on the Open Constitution Network.

(Review 4) Open Review

General Public Review inviting comments and feedback from anyone on the License Draft. Provisions to register License Draft with other Open Source advocacy organisations for industry adoption and third-party use.

01st April 2024-01st july 2024

(Activity 3) Teritary provisions for Electronic Authentication of Open Constitution License on the Open Constitution Network.

(Review 5) Open Review

General Public Review inviting comments and feedback from anyone on the License Draft and License Manager framework. Provisions to register License Draft with other Open Source advocacy organisations for industry adoption and third-party use.

It is at the discretion of the Open Council to extend the General Public Reviews, based on received engagement in this open-source research.
